Elon Musk claims to develope a device that can restore the sight of people born blind
Elon Musk says he’s working on a device that could help restore sight for people who were born blind! Exciting news, right? His company, Neuralink, recently got approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for an experimental called Blind Sight.
Musk believes that this device can help those born without sight see like everyone else. Amazing! In fact, Neuralink has already implanted computer chips in the brains of two paralyzed individuals, allowing them to do cool things just by thinking.
In a post on X, Musk shared the potential of the Bright Sight device. He mentioned that even those who have lost both their eyes will get to experience the world visually. At first, the vision might be a bit fuzzy, but he said it would get better over time. Plus, users could see things like infrared and ultraviolet light—how neat is that?
He even posted a picture of a character from Star Trek who was born blind but sees with special devices. The company mentioned that the FDA recognized Blind Sight as a Breakthrough Device Designation. This designation is given to devices that help treat serious illnesses and health issues.
Neuralink has big plans too! They’re looking to implant this chip in eight more patients soon. So, there’s a lot happening and it sounds super promising!
